Curing The Incurable - Psoriasis

I assume you ended up on my blog because either you or your loved one suffers from Psoriasis (P as shortly called). Just like any other disease, I sincerely wish that no one would ever suffer from P. This is one of the aweful disorder that one can get. Unfortunately there is no proven cure today. Only alternative medicines seem to be working though there is no scientific proof why they are working.  I am going through one of them whicn is working (?!) for me.

For those of you who dont know P, quoting from psoriasis.org, "Psoriasis is a chronic disease of the immune system that appears on the skin, usually in the form of thick, red, scaly patches."

I have been suffering from P for almost 3 years. It got worse only in the last one year. It was in Jan '08 where the lesions started appearing on my legs, elbows. By May it covered almost 30% on my legs and several patches on my scalp. It got worse in July, it was all over my body, leg, had, knee, torso, back, scalp, fingers etc. Just horrible!

There is no cure, the conventional medicines available are only to reduce the symptoms, that too with a list of side effects. So we are left with only alternative medicines. I have to tell you here that I was taking Siddha medicines for more than a year. As my sister-in-law is a doctor of siddha medicine, it become very convenient for me to get instant consultation and change the medicine propotion time to time. By the time I got desperate and frustrated in August '08, I started seeing little changes on my left leg. Now, tt was almost four months, today no part of my body has lesions but that dark brown color left behind was so intense that I assume it would take atleast a year more to get back its original color.

But since P is a choronic disease I also don't want to assume that I got cured. The cure for P is in the blood not on the skin. There is no way to know whether I got cured or not. Till then I would continue taking the medicine and apply the herbal oils. I hope it doesnt come back.

To any one who is suffering from P, I would suggest to do as much research as possible on the web and gain knowledge about that. As mentioned earlier, psoriasis.org is a very good site to learn more about P.

Stay away from docs. They can do nothing. I gained aversion towards dermatologists (for P) in the US. I still remember when I first showed a lesion on my wrist,

Doc: Is that a new watch?
Me: Yes
Doc: How old is that?
Me: Couple of months.
Doc: Is this (lesion) also two months old?

Wow!! One darn smart doc!! I mean come on, I am not a doctor, but certainly I am not stupid to not to see a connection, before making an appointment. I felt he was unconcerned and not serious. After I showed another small patch on my shoulder, they did a biopsy to confirm it. He gave me an cream to apply on the lesion. I had no clue at that time what it was. It was later I understood that P has no cure, and what he gave was just a steriod cream to control the lesion. The bottom line is, the dermatologist can do nothing to help you because they don't know what to do, because they don't know reason why it comes, because they don't know what is the cure. My simple suggestion stay away from them.

Since Siddha is working for me I would'nt necessarily say that it will work for you. But we have no choice, except to try a pactically proven medicine (though not scientifically). It may be Siddha, Ayurveda, Chinese or any alternative medicine for that sake.

For me this is like an enlightment, now I can see, how anybody with chronic disorder or disease would feel, a cancer patient, a diabetic etc.

Though I cannot say for sure whether my P has improved, I am sure my compassion for some one with disease has definitely improved.
